Experienced Voices: Real Stories, Real Impact

For over two decades, Families USA has been a steadfast advocate, empowering individuals to share their challenges in accessing and affording health care. We now want to be more specific and focus on a population who have intimate and in-depth experiences with the health care system, moms and people who can become pregnant. We are looking for individuals who have had positive or negative experiences with health care throughout the time before, during, and after their pregnancy.

The Untold Stories:

Every year, millions of women and individuals who experience pregnancy interact with the health care system. Where you see a doctor and give birth may be different depending on where you live and work (i.e. a hospital or a birth center) and you may utilize different forms of insurance (i.e. Medicaid, private insurance, or Tricare), but there are similarities for all pregnant people in the types of care that you receive. For example, every pregnant person interacts with the health care workforce (examples: OBGYNs, midwives, and doulas), and they should have access to regular checkups, sonograms, childbirth care, and more. Most importantly, every pregnant person should be treated with respect and thoughtfulness, regardless of their race, ethnicity, first language, gender identity, sexual orientation, income, or the outcome of their pregnancy. We want to uplift real experiences to inspire real change. It’s important that we keep putting a human face to pregnancy. Women and individuals who can experience pregnancy are not just a statistic.

Why Share These Stories?

The power of storytelling is unparalleled. By sharing these authentic experiences, we aim to foster empathy, raise awareness, and drive collective action toward more holistic, respectful maternal health care. These stories will be used to advocate for better maternal health care at the local, state, and federal levels.

Your Voice Matters: Share Your Story

Your voice is crucial in building a health care system that truly serves the needs of all women and people who can become pregnant. Together, let's turn our stories into catalysts for transformation and advocate for a future where pregnancy care in the United States is considered a gold standard.
